Coastal Retreat (yea right)

Our family went to the Oregon Coast, Lincoln city. Vacations are a funny thing to me. I never grew up going on vacations. So going Vacations has never really been a big deal to me. They are great but quite frankly I would much rather buy a new piece of furniture. So when Ezra told me that he really wanted to go to the Coast I thought ok, that will be fun. We really don't travel that much so driving in the car for 6-9 hrs with the kids..lets just say that took some getting used too- for them and us. By the time we got there I wanted to pack up and head back. But then after we finally found a hotel..(hotel we booked told us when we got there that No kids are allowed..yea nice huh...) it turned out not to be too shabby of a weekend... It is a lot of work to pack up the kiddos and at times we wanted to pay someone to take our sweet little brooke! But we had some really fun times. Like all four us squeezing into a queen size bed or brooke trying to pretend she is asleep like kate and then trying to snore like kate as well. THat was funny.

Here are a few pics.

Ezra brought the whiffle balls and bat...he still loves playing that game.
Brooke would not keep her clothes on..she was always taking a v-line for the ocean...Hello!
Oh my gosh I got a family picture where my sweet husband is not sticking he tongue out.
WE did a little pit stop on our way home and saw some falls- We took a scenic route home and it ended up being a 9 hr. drive instead of a 6hr drive. By this time we were considering leaving the girls on the roof for the rest of the drive home. But we didn't have any rope.

that looks fun. I think Taryn and I need to go to the coast next year. that is a long time in the car for kids that aren't used to it.

I know it is so much work to go, but your kids will love you for doing it... I can't believe my parents use to travel with all five of us. I can remember people stopping and asking are these ALL your kids... and then being in hotels and a baby crying and crying through the night, but I love that they did it. Cute family picture! I can't believe how old Brooke is looking! Hey I haven't got your email address yet, email me at kwalk_8@yahoo.com

I LOVE Lincoln City! We used to go there every spring break when I was growing up, and I haven't been in probably about 12 years.. I miss it so much! I'd love to get some young moms together sometime and rent a house on the beach.. I think that would be SO much fun! Looks like it wasn't that bad of weather...that's nice! And Multnomah Falls is fun too! Did you guys climb to the top??? I'm guessing no with the kiddies... I know I wouldn't!!! Fun Hayley, I'm jealous! Might have to make a little trip now! ;)

that is hilarious about you rather buying a peice of furniture than going on a vacation. sometimes i think the same way!

wiffle ball on the beach sounds like a ton of fun! Children on the roof also sounds like fun! Glad we could reconnect. It is so fun to see what you are up to!

It looks so beautiful! I was thinking about you this weekend because we were in your neck of the woods for the BYU vs. Washington game. I miss you!

Your retreat looks like it turned out to be a lot of fun! Your girls are so dang cute, I don't know if I believe that they were a pain in the car. They just look so angelic in those pictures! :)
