Traditions...yea or nay?

Christmas Traditions. When I think of that I start to get a nervous feeling. I mean they are great and wonderful but talk about Pressure! When I saw some other dynamic mom's blogs and what they were doing I was like OK I just might be a lame mother Christmas. I saw some who make a advent calendar and do a Christmas activity each day...I was like what ever happen to just a piece of candy each day or better yet.. your left over Halloween candy that no one wants.. by December your kids are excited about it again.

Anyways hats of to you who can manage to come up with something interesting or participle in a festive Christmas activity for 24 DAYS in the month of December. And so I ask myself..are my kids getting the short end of stick. Should I making gumdrops and roasting chestnuts by the open fire?

But then as I was looking back at the little things we did to celebrate Christmas and I realized we do have some teeny tiny traditions, maybe not a lot but a few. And plus that takes a lot of pressure off for next year. So here they are. Just a few tradition sprinkles to lighten up our season. And I have to say honestly... the most fun my kids were just being able to be with all their cousins. Unplanned craziness but I loved every minute of it! and mom
I know you did too!!!!

My kids were really board one day and our tree was looking a little sparse so we strung cranberries and popcorn. and then I remembered me and Ezra did this in Iowa. Aww. jk. not really that sentimental. Kept the kids busy. did not know that brookie could enjoy needle work so well.

My studly man went and slayed these geese. We made a wonderful goose stew that was DELIGHTFUL. Jk. but Ezra made some really good goose Jerky. At least he says it is good. I just need to try it out on a fast Sunday...ya know after I am really good and hungry.

Gingerbread houses. Ezra's mom always does gingerbread houses. I love it. They love it. Brooke's house collapsed twice. But Grandma Christian came to the rescue and stabilized it.

Ok this Tradition comes off my side of the family. It started about 4 years ago. My dad has a school bus that he uses to for the workers. Anyways My family fires up the bus with Christmas lights and we all go caroling to people on the farm. And anyone that wants to get on the bus can jump on for the ride! My brother's are pre-selling tickets for next year in JULY. You get a discount if you happen to have a decent set of pipes on you..or you can bring goodies and we will knock off a few bucks.

My mom and my sisters before we got on the bus.

THE BUS. WE almost had a tragedy at the beginning of our caroling adventure but our trusty bus driver was able to spins its wheels and pull us out of mud hole.

Girls on the bus.

Caroling to Sweet Grandma Fay.
Come on does this just not look like fun. I have to say this bus brought back a lot Memories. Good and just simply EMBARRASSING!!!

And Jennilyn only had one take down that night. I only got three still shots of it. You might be able to You-Tube it.

Now back at the shed for some chili and corn bread. OH what fun we had in an one horse Powered bus.

Don't worry. I still have more Christmas Frolics to come!

Turkey Trot with Sara

Ok here is a little LATE re-cap. (Thanksgiving).

Thanksgiving day my mom, Jenni and I participated in the Turkey Trot.

and Sara was there running with her double stroller. gotta love it. My heart be still. It was a huge moment for me. I was running by her and then I lost her in the crowd. It was devastating. But I know I am destined to meet her. But we still had a great time. (oh and if anyone makes a rude comment about her on my blog you will be ousted!)

My mom warming up. But next year mom you can't wear your Levis!

stay tuned for our Christmas festivities and joyful frolics...
