Finally Friends?

I think we have just passed a big hurdle. Kate and Cooper have always had a love hate relationship but yesterday they just can't get enough of each other! And she was not even a wussy pants when cooper did a "throw down" on her.

And then there is the sweet babies that have always loved each other.
I just had to post this picture. Brooke taping her diaper. She did that all by herself and was so proud! I guess she likes her diaper taped now.

I TWO!

I two! That's right my baby's two years old. Ok so I am going to write a few things about my little skunk..and please don't feel like you have to read them..but I just do it because I will forget if I don't write it down.

LOVES: buckles! any type of buckle. She could play in a car all day buckling the carseat straps. Baby dolls, animals, climbing, taking off shoes-diapers and clothes oh and lets not forget GUM! On many occasions I have found a whole pack of gum devoured. and BACKYARDAGINS (what kid doesn't)

QUIRKS: When brookie gets really mad she bites her wrist. I know weird. but at least she is not biting me...right? hopefully she grows out of it.

VICES: still drinks bottles at night to go to bed and sucks a binki. Don't worry..we have really GOOD dental insurance.

We love our little brookie. She sure is a stinker at times but we couldn't live with out her.

WE had a little party for her with Ezra's family. We were supposed to have one with my family on sunday but unfortunately I got the stomach flu. SO here are the pics.

Tate got a complimentary tooth pull from Grandpa. She was so brave! It was her front tooth.

TOMATO Basil Quiche

Just call me betty..I have another recipe...My friend Amber Facer gave me this recipe. (She has the best recipes.) oh and the best part..so EASY!! Here it is:

Tomato Basil Quiche
From the Kitchen of: Amber Capua Facer Servings: 8
Category: Main Dish Prep time: 20 minutes

Emmentaler is a cow’s-milk cheese with a nutty, mild flavor. Any Swiss-style cheese with small holes may be substituted. So good!

1 9-inch unbaked pie crust
4 ounces (1 1/3 cups) Emmentaler cheese, grated on large holes of a box grater
2 large vine-ripened tomatoes, seeded and chopped into ¼ inch pieces
1 package (1 ounce) fresh basil, thinly sliced
3 large eggs
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. In a medium bowl, toss together cheese, tomatoes, and basil. Bake unpricked pastry shell for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and arrange cheese mixture in the bottom of shell. In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and the milk. Add salt and pepper. Pour evenly over cheese mixture. Bake at 325 degrees F. for 45 minutes or until set. Remove from heat and let stand about ten minutes before serving

(I am sure you could use mozzarella cheese or Parmesan cheese too, it would just have more of a mild flavor and not as rich.)

*oh for the crust the Pillsbury dough boy works great or Martha Stewart has a really EASY crust and never fails! promise.

Pumpkin Doughnuts with Pumpkin Frosting

I am ordering anyone who reads this post to stop and go make this scrumptious delicious dounuts....PLEASE..And if you are watching the hips..forget it because these are just to good to pass up. Here is the link for the recipe.

http://www.peterandrewryan.com/baking/2008/10/pumpkin-donuts-with-pumpkin-cream-cheese-frosting/

His donuts look much better..but hey if I had one of those fancy shmancy cameras I could make anything look good...so that is my excuse..crappy camera.

If you have any left overs...(probably not) box them up and give to a special friend or someone you want to be friends with. These will for sure win them over.
p.s these are so easy..really so don't let the fry daddy scare you...

Dad gets creative

When my mommy leaves my dad likes to duck tape my diaper because I have this little problem..I can't seem to leave my diaper on! And I have left one to many surprises for my mommy..(I think my mommy is too lazy to potty train me so instead they just tape me up!) I have been trying to tell her I really want to wear "big girls" and quit all this diaper nonsense..but she won't have any of that..oh well... duck tape it is.

Adventures of West Virgina

My sister and I traveled across the country in an airplane to W.V to see my parents who are serving a L.D.S mission. Wow. We did it and quite frankly if someone asked me to do it again I would tell them I would rather run a marathon. Mom and dad I loved every minute we were with you. It was just the to and from part. After all was said and done and we were driving home from the airport and I looked at Jenni and said "WE ARE SO CRAZY"!! Thank goodness for my sis who doesn't let kids get under her skin and keeps me in my SKIN! But it was WORTH every dirty look, every scream, every tantrum, and most importantly it was worth seeing the look of joy on my mom's face when pulled up in our mini-van. Now when we all got out of the mini-van that was a different story. A more in depth explantion of trip can be found at my sister blog who captures our adventure much BETTER than me.

Ok so here is the RE-Cap:

Elder and Sister Hartley

Mom with the ANGLES and her friend who they are teaching.

Playing at park

Are the leaves gorgeous or what!

I love the picture of DAD. This is the trailer they live in.

I added this to my favorite top 10 signs.

We had a great time. Just being with my mom and dad was very special. It was a little tight with 4 adults and 4 kids in a two bedroom trailer but I guess that just made it easier to say good bye. I know that they are doing the Best thing right now. But I can't wait for them to get HOME!!

OK I am posting my Halloween post....sorry pam it took so long. But I kept my promise I would do it tonight! So like many of you we had another great Halloween, and also like many you I am sharing some of the festivities we did. ok so first the costumes..we have minni mouse and a fish. check out Minni's shoes...they have a heel!!

Jenni's friend Heather invited us a little Halloween party..The kids had great time.

Carving pumpkins! Halloween Night....Ezra is the mullet man and I am a spider lady.

We also went to a halloween party that a staff member had. (by the way I have never been invited to a halloween party before.) Just thought I would throw that out there so nobody gets the wrong idea about us having this fantastic social life that is scheduled out every weekend. (Ezra's dad is the zombie. ) He bought it at hot topic..Craig what were you doing in there???

Well that pretty much sums it up. Bring on the holidays! (for some reason that thought makes me tired.)

The Patch

This is the me and my sister jenni's 3rd annual trip to the pumpkin patch. We just love it! Here is the recap.

THis is my favorite picture and highlight of the day. Cooper found his pumpkin and he is dragging it by the horns! The guy that was driving the tractor could not stop laughing and said"I have never seen that before".

Kids are climbing the haystack pyramid. My brookie is such a monkey..I wish I had this in my backyard. Notice she is beating the older kids...

And poor little cason couldn't even get pass the first hay bale. He gave it a good fight and tried for several minutes, but just that darn first hay bale was really giving him trouble.

We had a great time! And the best part is that we never got one dirty look from anyone while we ate in the restaurant. At least I don't think so. I was so busy stuffing the kids full of pop, chips and chocolate that I never really caught any nasty glare. It just must be those good ol' farmers and country folk!

My little Picasso

oh brookie..what am I going to do with you. Mr. oxy clean saved your life that day. Oh by the way she did this BOTH arms of my couch. But the oxy clean worked liked a charm!

Country Bumpkins

We picked the pumpkins. And guess what they came from our own patch. Is that bragging or what! I am hoping the green ones ripen up soon..but I kinda think ezra picked them a little early...I just love the white ones (yes, jenni you can have one). kate has been having fun painting them too.
This is the applesauce we canned last week. Kate insisted on being the one that turns the crank. Man canning is such a mess!! I took me forever to clean up my kitchen after this little event.

Ezra came to me last sunday and said "Hayley I think I am going to need you to come with me to go fishing, everyone bailed on me." Honesty that is the last thing I wanted to do. I had tons of stuff of to do and really sitting on a boat for 8+ hrs. is really not my thing. But then the thought instantly came to my mind. I remember my dad dragging my mom everywhere to go fishing. I know mom...you would have liked doing a MANY more things. But you did it because you loved dad and you did it because you knew how much he wanted to do it. And you never complained. You were always happy to do it too. So that is what I decided to do. Ezra was so excited that I was going. I know he would never admit that..but he was..even a little giddy. Seeing Ezra so happy made me happy. So thank you mother for teaching me how to take care of my husband and putting his needs before mine. I know my mom probably had many hobbies she wanted to pursue but she always put them on hold for my dad and us. And you know what...she was still HAPPY. Amazing huh.

Ok so Ezra caught two fall salmon. He felt bad he did not let me reel one in.. He said next time I could. (next time?)
