Recipe for you...

ok so who wants a good salad recipe out there? i know know all hands fly up when asked that question. so I have one for all you out there trying to figure out what to have for dinner tonight. I have had this recipe for like two years and never used it, until last night. YUMMO as the great rachel ray would say. ok enough of the intro...here it is ....

It is Applebee's Oriental salad. I think I might have got it from topsecretrecipes.com
Dressing
3 Tablespoons honey
1 1/2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1/4 cup. mayo
1 tea. grey Poupon Dijon Mustard..i was out so I just used 1 tea dry mustard and pinch of sugar.
1/8 tea. sesame oil
Mix all together and refrigerate for a little bit.

Salad
You can really just put in what you have. I did not have most of this stuff so I just improvised and it was still really good

cabbage or lettuce any type - if you have both on hand mix them together.
carrots- sliced matchstick style
green onion
toasted sesame seeds
sliced almonds
chow main noodles or the good ol ramen noodles
chicken- i just used the breaded chicken from costco- you can use just chicken breast and slice them up.

cooks note: I would double the dressing because it did not make that much.

HAVE FUN! And you can thank me later for solving your "what should I make for dinner tonight" mystery.

women past and present....

I am in Young Women's and this year's theme is "Be thou an example of the believer's, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12.

The past few days I have really been thinking about this and all the women in the scriptures who were believers. And I have realized how I need to be a Strong believer like these amazing women in the scriptures. I have felt strongly like the line in the sand has been drawn and I have to decide which side I am going to stand on. There really is no longer any gray and I certainly can't afford to be wishy washy. I look at my daughters and think...hayley is your example good enough for your girls to follow. many times the answer is no. But thank goodness for the amazing examples of women in my day to follow. I look at my mother, my sister's, sister in laws, grandmothers, amazing girlfriends and wow. They are wonderful example's of believers. I am truly fortunate.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Esther. maybe someday it will be hanging on my wall.....

playing house

I moved my girls into the same room..so therefore I "had" to re-do their room or as ezra likes to call it.."play house". I wanted to do something fresh. The rest of my house I have painted in all different shades of gray...so I really wanted to use bright colors. I think kids rooms are so fun to play with. I also did not want to spend a lot of money and I wanted to use things I already had. because lets face it..why buy your kids really nice stuff.. they are just going to trash it..or you are going to go nuts worrying about it being trashed. right?

Here is what we have done so far...

The dressers were once in our bedroom. I painted them a apple jelly green...I think I picked that color because of its name.

Good Will find! BEFORE PICTURE..I found two matching twin sets..how lucky is that. I just sprayed them with some spray paint...FYI. Sherwin Williams will mix any color swatch and stick it in a aerosol can. Is that not awesome! (but they will only do oil base paint) the color of the head board is called "garden clogs" ok I picked that color because its name too. I just can't help it.

THis is just an cheap ikea frame I sprayed and put fabric in. This is brook's bulletin board. and then for kate I found an old sewing hoop in my mom's house and used that for her bulletin board.

I got sheets at target and made a bed cover or in this a case throw blanket.

Again just some old frames I had in my house. and a magnet board for something.

Next is my bedroom. WE have lived in our house for two years and I have done nothing with our bedroom. Right now I am painting..so we will see.....
